Frost Resistant

Each item with negative value in this field is considered frost resistant and the value indicates the temperature of cold resistance. However, it should be considered that the clay is not waterproof. Indeed, the characteristic of the clay is the porosity due to which the plants have a better oxygenation of the roots. Consequently, the pores can be filled with water in the winter and the cold could break even the best terracotta. To avoid this, you need to follow simple steps and your pot will withstand even harsh winters in time:

  • Do not block the drainage holes on the bottom of the pot and check that the soil or roots do not prevent water leakage. The icey water may also harm the plant.
  • Do not let the terracotta be filled with water during the winter
  • If possible, try to raise the pot from the ground using the terracotta feet for the base
